Grilled Green Onions

Updated: Jan 2, 2020

Grilled Green Onions! You will be surprised how easy and delicious this grilled vegetable is. Basic ingredients and a little char turns this simple vegetable into a flavourful side. Definitely one of my favorite grilled veggies!

Fun Fact: Green onions are one of the most widely used ingredients in Chinese cooking and the principle onion used within Japanese cuisine. And for good reason. They are delicious!

Place green onions in a dish and drizzle olive oil over the onions. Stir gently to coat the onions with the oil.

Sprinkle with coarse salt and fresh ground pepper. Stir and mix gently. If you like a little heat, sprinkle a few crushed pepper flakes as well. I love a little heat with my recipes!

Preheat the grill to 500’f and clean the grill to remove the previous delicious BBQ remnants that may exist. Place the green onions across the grill. A little side note, don’t leave the BBQ area. These little beauties grill fast!

Grill on each side for a couple of minutes until lightly charred. The end result should be a soft lightly charred green onion. Place back in the original dish with the oil, salt and pepper residue. Stir gently. Take a moment to absorb the smells from this healthy simple gem! Mmmmph!
